“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.”
Hebrews 4:9
A loving promise that we shall rest with God. 🔥
There comes a point in our walk with God where we realize the Kingdom was never meant to remain distant from us in some far off sky. Jesus did not only call us to survive this world, but to walk with Him through it.
“…And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20
The deeper we seek Him, the more we begin to understand that the Kingdom is not far away, for Jesus said: “For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
Luke 17:21
The Word also tells us that we are “surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses”.
Hebrews 12:1
Understand that a cloud is made of countless drops gathered together, and in the same way, this cloud of witnesses speaks of a multitude so great that everywhere we look there is testimony of God’s faithfulness. The faith of those who walked before us surrounds us like a cloud, encompassing and overwhelming, impossible to ignore.
Throughout Scripture, clouds represented the presence of God and moments where heaven touched earth. When the Lord filled the tabernacle, “the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle”.
Exodus 40:34
At the transfiguration, “a bright cloud overshadowed them”.
Matthew 17:5
This is why Isaiah wrote:
“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
Just as eagles rise above the storm instead of remaining beneath it, in the same way God lifts those who seek Him above fear, confusion, bitterness, and worldly weight. As we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness Matthew 6:33), the Lord renews our minds and teaches us to “set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth”.
Colossians 3:2
The mountain experiences throughout Scripture revealed intimacy with God. Jesus took Peter, James, and John up on a high mountain, and “He was transfigured before them”.
Matthew 17:2
In that moment, heavenly reality was unveiled before them.
In the same way, God still calls His people upward spiritually through prayer, obedience, humility, and communion with Him.
In this waiting, we are also being taught what is being revealed through patience and the importance of it. For it is often in the waiting that God is forming what we could not see in the process. Nothing is wasted in the hands of God. And we know that:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28
Even what feels delayed, hidden, or unclear is being woven into something purposeful. In the waiting, our trust is refined, our understanding is deepened, and our hearts are aligned with His timing. Nothing in Christ is wasted, not even the silence, for He is working all things together in love.
As we abide in Christ Jesus, He prepares a place for us even now. Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for you”.
John 14:2
This place is not only future promise, but present communion, peace, wisdom, discernment, endurance, and closeness with Him. For we were “bought at a price” (1 Corinthians 6:20), called to practice righteousness and present ourselves unto God. As we allow Christ to cleanse and prepare these earthly vessels, we become a dwelling place for His Spirit, for “your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you”.
1 Corinthians 6:19
I pray that any discouragement be lifted when we cannot yet understand the revelation God is building within us. Prayerfully, may we continue seeking Him, waiting on the Lord, and letting our light so shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16
For “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.”
Psalm 37:23–24
We were not created merely to remain beneath the weight of the storm.
Through Christ, we are being taught how to rise above it.
Discernment in the Walk
Would you recognize Him when He moves in unexpected ways or through those easily overlooked?
Not everyone who says “Lord, Lord” knows Him.
Matthew 7:21-23
Discernment is not to judge others, but to examine our own hearts before God. May we not be led by appearance, but by truth rooted in Christ.
